ndia’s relationwith Israel hasgrownfromtherecognition
of Israel by the Government of India in 1950 to the
establishment of full-fledged diplomatic relations in
1992. Today our engagement is much beyond commerce
and trade; it extends to cultural exchanges and people to
people contacts between the two nations. Both countries
face similar challenges when it comes to availability and
use of water and there exists immense opportunities for
engagement on research, technology transfer, capacity
building and promotion of joint ventures.
Considering Israel’s expertise in agriculture and water
management sector, FICCI has undertaken some initiatives
in these areas. Some of the initiatives are as follows:
International Workshop on Marketing of Fresh
and Value Added AgriProducts (2006) - Delhi &
Bangalore
• FICCI in collaboration with MASHAV organized a
workshop-cum-training programme on Marketing of
Fresh and Value Added Agri-products. The programme
aimed at enhancing technical knowhow on fresh and
value added product innovations and understanding
on global best practices in their marketing.
• The duration of the workshop cum training programme
was five days.
International Workshop on Micro Irrigation
Technologies and Automation in Irrigation
Systems (2007) - New Delhi & Pune
• The Five-Day International Workshop was organized by
FICCI in Collaboration with MASHAV, Israel.
• Israeli Engineers having more than 20 years of
Experience in Micro Irrigation were the Instructors in
this Workshop.
• Training Programme broadly covered the areas such as:
Designand InstallationofDrip IrrigationSystems,Design
andInstallationofSprinklerIrrigationSystems,Economic
Designs for Reducing the Cost of Micro Irrigation,
Advances in Fertigation System, Micro Irrigation in
Controlled Environment Agriculture, Automation in
Micro Irrigation Systems, Irrigation Design Software,
Field Visits to Familiarize with Micro Irrigation Systems.
International Workshop on Integrated Pest
Management (2008) - New Delhi & Hyderabad
• FICCI in collaboration with MASHAV organized a five-
day International Workshop-cum Training Programme
on Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Experts from
Israel were the instructors for this workshop.
• The Workshop focused on Principles of integrated
pest management, biological control of pests, pest
surveillance, forewarning system-role in
• IPM with specific IPM case studies on pepper, tomatoes
and strawberry, etc.
FICCI workshop on Dairy Development and
Management (2009) - Tel Aviv
• FICCI in collaboration with Embassy of Israel in India,
MASHAV and CINADCO organized a 8-day training
programme to understand the latest innovations and
technologies applied by Israeli dairy industry.
• Twelve delegates from five different states of India
participated in the workshop.
• The training programme was blended with field visits
to northern and southern regions in Israel and lectures
on various aspects of dairy farming in Israel.
Agritech: International Agricultural Exhibition &
Conference (2006, 2009, 2012) - Tel Aviv
• Agritech Israel, the International Agricultural Technology
Exhibition, is one of the world’s most important
exhibitions in the field of agricultural technologies.
