Letter from the Publishers
Dear Readers,
Among all the sectors that Israel and India are engaged in – both on the
Government to Government level and the company to company level, the
two most active ones are Agriculture & Water. This has been borne out by the
large number of agreements on cooperation, the exchange of technology, the
strategic partnerships and the joint ventures that have been established over the
last couple of years.
MATIMOP (Israeli Industry Center for R&D), Israel and GITA (Global Innovation &
Technology Alliance), a division of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) continue
to offer incentives on joint R&D between Israeli and Indian Industry; The Israeli
Ministry of Economy, following the successful visit to India by the Minister of the
Economy Mr. Naftali Bennett, introduced two significant proposals – one on joint
research & development and the other a fund for joint venture projects between
Israeli and Indian companies.
The program of initiating Centers of Excellence in India is gathering steam. This
far, 30 such Centers were planned. While some have starting operating, work on
others is on.
The Publishers are firmly of the view that extra efforts are required to cement
and strengthen interaction in the fields of Agriculture & Water. We believe that
through sustained communication, bilateral delegation visits, participation in
exhibitions in each country and similar cross-border interaction, cooperation
between the two sides will continue to grow.
The rest of 2014 and the year 2015 will witness a number of important exhibitions
and conferences in each country on Agriculture & Water, the highpoint being
once-in-three-year mega event AGRITECH (April 2015 in Tel Aviv). India has
consistently sent the largest contingent of delegates to this event and is expected
to maintain that record this time as well.
We thank our well-wishers and sponsors for continuing to support us. The
Embassy of Israel, the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai and Bangalore and
FICCI have consistently backed us and for this we are very grateful. We also thank
all those who have contributed valuable editorial inputs.
Our website
rowing from strength to strength and fast
taking its rightful place in the healthy mix of media on the Israel-India scene.
We wish you useful and productive reading, and much success in your endeavors.
