Israel-India Business Guide - Agriculture &Water
4
Dear Readers,
During more than two decades since diplomatic relations between
Israel and India were established, much progress has achieved in
bilateral trade relations.
As Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Israel, I am
particularly pleased to note that substantial increase in trade
figures also took place in water and agro technologies including
horticulture, farming under arid conditions, greenhouses and poly-
houses, irrigation - drip and sprinkler, animal husbandry, agricultural
equipment, aquaculture, desalination, municipal water treatment
& recycling, water conservation & filtration and more.
As this impressive cooperation has already been created, our two
countries need to live up to new challenges that global warming
and climate change have inflicted on our globe. R&D efforts should
be applied and consequently novel solutions should be adopted, such ones that would be adaptable
to Israeli and Indian conditions.
The State of Israel maintains its commitment to cooperate with India for the sake of agricultural
development and food security improvement in a variety of channels while employing the Public
Private Partnership approach. Israel has provided - over many years - technical assistance, training
programs, technology transfer, demonstration farms and Centers of Excellence, as well as exchanges
of agricultural college curricula and a setup a joint venture fund, all of which should serve as a lever
for large increase in bilateral agro-business relations.
We invite our counterparts to visit Israel in delegations to view for themselves what Israel’s agriculture
and water sectors can offer you.
I am pleased that the Israeli Paprika Productions Limited and Abraham Yehuda & Associates from
India are jointly publishing a new edition of the Israel-India Business Guide that is dedicated to
Agriculture and Water. Our Embassy, our two Consulate-Generals in India (Mumbai and Bangalore)
and our leading business & trade companies are strongly supporting these efforts.
I am confident that this business guide provides the reader with many options in which Israeli and
Indian agriculture and water stakeholders may beneficially cooperate
Wishing all of you prosperity and success!
Yours,
YAIR SHAMIR
Minister of Agriculture & Rural Development
State of Israel
