Israel’s Exports to India

Due to the slowdown in the Indian economy between 2010-2013,

relative to earlier years, and the decrease in demand for commodities

from Israel to India, exports to India 2010 reached the lowest point

in 6 years. With the establishment of the new government in India

and its economic recovery, the volume of bilateral trade improved

significantly,a trend that also reflected a sharp increase in exports. In

2015 this trend reached its peak and exports showed double-digit

growth - 21% - and climbed ot a total of US$ 1.3 billion.

In 2016 there was a reduction in exports to India, in contrast to the

positive trend in the earlier two years. Total Israeli exports to India

amounted to US$ 1.15 billion in 2016, representing a decrease of

13% compared to exports in 2015. It is important to note that the

volume of export in 2016 still remains relatively high, compared to

exports during the period 2013-2014.

India is considered as one of the emerging destinations of Israel

and the most important one for Israel globally and is traditionally

regarded as being among Israel’s 10 major export destinations. In 2016

India was ranked as the 9th export destination of goods from Israel.

Exports of telecommunication equipment and metals, which figure

among the major goods exported by Israel to India, remained stable,

compared to the previous year. These sectors account for 40% in value

of the total goods exported to India.Exports of telecommunications

equipment declined by about 2% to approximately around US$ 2.4

million. Exports of metals and metal products increased by 2% to

US$ 212 million dollars.

An increase was registered in exports of electronic components -

by about 44% - to US$ 32 million, as well as office machines and IT

parts, that increased by 39% to US$ 29 million.

A sharp decrease of 69% in exports was registered in measuring,

testing and navigation devices, amounting to about US$ 28 million.

There was also a decrease of 30% in exports of control equipment,

optical instruments and photography to US$ 90 million.
