Being better prepared to face the professional world of Biotechnology and Field
Research
I n addition to the exposure provided by exhibitions,
events, seminars and conferences in Israel - as well as the
field visit that generally accompany them - it is important
for students, academicians, technicians, progressive
farmers and research assistants to actually go through the
experience of being trained and getting on-the-ground
exposure to new technology and practices in Israel.
In the profession of biotechnology - whether it is in the
field of healthcare, pharma or agriculture - tissue culture,
plant propagation and the like - there can be no better
experience than what is offered in Israel today.
Indian academics can take heart from the fact at in any
given year, there will be at least 350 students of Indian
origin doing either their Masters, Research work or their
Doctorate in leading Universities and Institutions in Israel.
This has added immense value to their CVs.
In addition, leading Israeli Academic Institutions and
Universities are interested in engaging with Universities
and Colleges in India the same field - in student exchange
program, faculty exchange, assistance in setting up
curricula, providing students from the other country a
platform to get practical training, doing summer camps,
and other activities.

various branches to students, academicians and progressive

several cases, the courses are offered free of cost, apart from
the air fares that are to be borne by the candidates.

Volunteering on a Kibbutz in Israel for between 4
to 9 months
Minimum period of stay: 3 to 4 months
Minimum number of volunteers - 15
Who can qualify - research students, progressive
farmingcommunities, fieldworkers, farmmanagement
personnel, academic students
It is possible to extend the stay to a maximum of 9
months at one stretch, depending on needs of the
kibbutz.
Kibbutzs that have horticulture, plant propagation,
tissue culture, dairy and bovine genetics will be chosen
so that the volunteers can get practical experience on
working in farms that have these Israeli technology
and knowhow.
Stay on the kibbutz will cover all meals, sleeping and
staying arrangements, tours organized by the kibbutz,
daily work as organized by the kibbutz, 3 days holiday
in a month, volunteer will receive stipend of 550 Israeli
shekels per month, it is possible to do extra hours
and get extra time - if required by the kibbutz. If food
not provided by the kibbutz, the kibbutz will make
arrangements to supply all provisions for volunteers
to make their own meals or one or two meals a day
- as required.
Each volunteer will need to guarantee that he will
return to India at the end of the nine-month period.
Volunteers will need to provide medical certification
of fitness and health.
