helplessness and sometimes even self-alienation as a result of the severe

trauma they endured. Through the initiative’s principles and components

the writer demonstrates the creation of a safe place that allows these

girls and young women, ever so slowly, to develop their confidence in the

surroundings and most importantly in themselves.

Tali-Or Vaisman and Topaz Kronzilber

also write about the connection

between body and soul as part of the journey towards healing. In their

article they describe the birth and development of a programof encounters

they created for girls and young women with the help of makeup as a

therapeutic tool. The program, born out of sickness and developed against

the background of the body and soul coping with its outcome, finds a

unique way to identify body perceptions of young women at risk as well

as women recovering from breast cancer, realize these perceptions and

confront them. The writers describe how makeup serves these women

as a tool of self-reflection (who am I?), deconstructing the components of

self (what makes me feminine? what is my strength? what do I like about

myself?) and ultimately of self-acceptance.

Shlomo Ariel’s

article takes us into the treatment room, by demonstrating

treatment of trauma through integrative play therapy. The article presents

two case studies of children who had demonstrated post traumatic

symptoms following exposure to terrorism. An analysis of the two case

studies allows the writer to find different characteristics in the history

of the two children that led to different behavior patterns and therefore

required a unique treatment plan for each one of them. The writer opens

a window to the treatment room and demonstrates how the integrative,

multi-system play therapy model facilitates the adaptation of a therapy

that is not based only on the characteristics of the trauma that impacted

the patient, but also on the personality traits, history and sources of

strength of each and every patient.

She was stronger than winter

She was stronger than the storm.

Rising up from nothing

Here is the secret of her strength

Her heart, she preciously locked it up in a safe

And her body, she kept it jealously.

She understands and sometimes closes her eyes

On what is happening because of her.
