Professional Discourse
Challenges in the Development and Work Spaces in the Social World
Anat Pessate-Schubert Director, Ashalim Knowledge & Learning Center
JDC
-
Ashalim
attributes great
significance
to promoting professional discourse
as
part of
the overall discussion
regarding ways
to develop
learning channels among
professionals who work with
children
,
youth
and
young
adults
in
situations
of
risk and
their
families
.
The
tenth
issue of
Et Hasadeh
is unique
in
that
it
is
“
home
-
made
”:
All
of
the
articles
were
written
by
members
of
the
JDC
-
Ashalim
staff
.
Continuing
the
path
set
by
the
previous
issues
,
this
issue
also
deals
with
the
development of
such
a
professional
discourse
in
the
broad
sense
,
and
comprises
four
parts
:
professional
discourse
,
Field
Journal
,
Knowledge Management
and
Development
,
and Reading Corner
.
One
of
the
key
challenges
facing
JDC
-
Ashalim
,
as well
as
other
organizations
,
is
the
attempt
to
create mechanisms
that
enable
extraction
,
conceptualization
,
preservation
and
dissemination
(
sharing
)
of
knowledge
relevant
to
social
action
for populations
in situations of risk
.
According toWang
&
Noe
(2010),
the ability to
share knowledge
is a
significant professional asset possessed by organizations
,
a
tool
that enables
the worker
to
influence knowledge development and
innovation
processes
,
and
to
increase
the
organization
’
s
competitiveness
in
a
complex
and
changing
market
that
demands
flexibility
,
adaptation
and
creativity
.
Similarly
,
Lam
&
Laumbermont
-
Ford
(2010)
saw
knowledge
sharing
as
a
significant
,
positive
and
irreversible
process
in which
individual
learning
is
translated
into
relevant
organization
ability
.
The
current
issue
faithfully
reflects
knowledge
’
s
central place
at
various
junctures of developing
solutions
for
children
,
youth
and
young
adults
in
situations
of
risk
,
by
creating
a
platform
for
significant
learning
dialogue with
professionals
,
whoever
and wherever
they are
.
In
the
first
section
,
Professional
Discourse
,
we
will
present
knowledge
from
three
spheres
that are
relevant
to
the development and work
spaces of programs
in
the
world
of
social
action
:
the
goal
of
containment
in
the
Israeli
education
system
;
building
Supportive
and
Alternative
Communications
(
SAC
)
to
service
the
justice
system
;
uses
and
benefits
of
youth volunteerism
.
The
issue opens with
an
article
by Dr
.
Flora Mor
,
Senior Area Head of Education
Programs
,
which deals with
the question of
the values
,
meanings and
implications
of
the gaps
and
the polarity
in
the
education
system
.
Flora
argues
that
the
ability
to
contain
the difference between
the
system
’
s
students
is one of
the
challenges
