S

ince its early days, the Dairy Industry in Israel has been an

important aspect in the development of the agricultural sector

in the country. Dairy farming has been transformed into an

industrialized system, creating optimal integration between the

production unit (the cow),technologies and equipment (engineering),

the operator (the farmer) and the production environment (the dairy

farm).Israel is not bound by agricultural traditions, and Israeli farmers

integrate many new ideas into their farming systems. Integration

of co-operative ideas has provided even the small farmer in Israel

with technological access to modern and to up-to-date know-how,

through extension services.

unit (the cow), technologies and equipment (engineering), the operator (the

farmer) and the production environment (the dairy farm)

Dairy production and technology exports include advanced and

computerized milking and feeding systems, cooling systems that

reduce heat stress on cows, embryos for transplant, milk processing

equipment, consultancy services, as well as joint international

project development.

Advances in animal husbandry in Israel include the development of

high milk-producing Assaf sheep, a result of the cross-breeding of

the improved Israeli Awassi and the German East Friesian breeds and

prize-winning Holstein cows with superior milk production capabilities.
