B iogas, which is produced from the decomposition of organic waste, is an important source of renewable energy that can produce heat and electricity with minimum impact on the climate. However, cleaning it is essential. Hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) and Siloxane which are present in biogas must be removed to avoid damage to engine components and infrastructure for off-grid applications but also for production of Biomethane injected into the grid. The effectiveness of current and commonly used technologies for biogas cleaning varies according to site and biogas conditions. Such solutions aren’t always sufficient and therefore often a combination of them is required. A side stream is diverted from the main recycle loop to a separation section where the H 2 S and/or Siloxane are removed, and the absorbing liquid is regenerated for reuse.
