A friend told me about how volunteering on a Kibbutz changed his life: He said, it honed his social skills, opened his mind, broadened his horizons, empowered his sense of independence and allowed him to travel. "I checked out the Kibbutz Volunteers’ Program Center, and found myself becoming a Kibbutz volunteer.Wow, there’s no place like a Kibbutz,anywhere in the world! I learned about a unique lifestyle that began more than a 100 years ago,founded on principles of communal life,in the rural parts of Israel. Nowadays, they have expanded from being agricultural to include tourism and high-tech,while keeping an ecological way of life.” For a minimum of two months (summer break) or even longer, you may also share the experience of many volunteers who have called a Kibbutz home.You’ll participate in the daily life of the community,their social activities,their special holiday celebrations and sample different kinds of working environments (farming, hi-tech, etc.). Volunteers enjoy free room and board, sports facilities, local amenities, a small monthly allowance that enables you to cover your expenses and trips around Israel. You get to know yourself better, and make friends with people from all over the world.
